SCAN Kicks Off Monthly Music Series at Monmouth Mall
Eatontown, NJ – Senior Citizens Activities Network (SCAN) has launched a new monthly music series to take place inside Monmouth Mall. The music series will take place once-per-month on Saturdays at 2pm under the rotunda, adjacent to the Mall’s Food Court.
Sponsored by The Grunin Foundation and Monmouth Mall, the series is designed to showcase a variety of talented musicians and musical styles here at the Jersey Shore, and to raise awareness about SCAN, New Jersey’s only non-profit dedicated to the health of the mind, body and spirit of people 50 and older, through its educational programming, fitness classes and variety of workshops.
The series is free and open to the public and will begin on Saturday January 29th at 2pm featuring the music of April Centrone. April is a drummer, percussionist, oud player, educator and music therapist based at the Jersey Shore. April is also the founder and owner of her business, 10PRL; a 6,500 sq ft film, music, dance, arts and event space in Long Branch, NJ, which she opened in January 2020. www.10prl.com.
The series continues on February 26th with the music of TAURIE. TAURIE is a sultry soul singer, dancer, model, producer and songwriter. TAURIE is a 2021 Award winner at the prestigious Garden State Film Festival (GSFF) for her ‘MISTLETOE’ music video. A multi-talented self-taught musician, Taurie can play five instruments, Ukulele, Bass Guitar, Electric Guitar, Piano and Keyboard.
On March 26th, New Jersey singer-songwriter Colton Kayser and his band will perform. Kayser’s sound is rooted in alt-country/Americana while retaining a strong melodic pop accessibility.
The songwriter’s talents have not gone unnoticed, with nominations for Top Male Acoustic Act in the Asbury Music Awards in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015, and Top New Male Act at the 2012 Jersey Acoustic Music Awards.
His self-titled debut record has garnered praise as well with a nomination for Record of the Year at the 2014 Asbury Music Awards. Kayser’s song “You and I” was nominated for Song of the Year also. Kayser has recently released a new single “Movies” which can be heard on his website, iTunes, and Spotify.
Green Planet Band will take the Mall stage on October 29th. The Green Planet band is a family band comprised of teen siblings Kylee , Tyler and Anna, along with Mama Lisa. It started with an elementary school talent show, and has grown to be a credible professional classic rock act with strong vocals by the kids and lead guitar work from Mama.
The band performs music by the likes of Aretha Franklin, Janis Joplin, Journey, Talking Heads, Neil Diamond, Buddy Holly, Linda Ronstadt, Elvis Costello, ABBA, The Rolling Stones, Elvis Presley and others.
More dates will be added to the series throughout the year.
